Mission Statement
Riverview Center is a nonprofit agency committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care for individuals affected by sexual assault in Iowa, and for individuals affected by sexual and domestic violence in Illinois. Our free services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal and medical advocacy, long and short-term counseling, transition assistance for domestic violence survivors, and violence prevention education programs.
Vision Statement
Riverview Center is creating a community free of violence through our violence prevention initiatives, including educational programming that empowers individuals, fosters empathy, and helps to develop social skills that emphasize respect, equality, and non-violent conflict resolution. Our educators present in every classroom in every school in our service area. In addition to schools, our violence prevention education programming is available to all community groups and businesses.
Violence Prevention Education
in Your Community
Riverview Center provides educational programming to tens of thousands of schoolchildren each year to help enact change in our cultural biases and assumptions, by addressing such topics as body safety, healthy versus unhealthy relationships, sexual harassment, sexting, gender stereotyping, bullying, cyberbullying, and Internet safety. But if our message does not reach parents, caregivers, and community leaders, not only do the adults not embrace our message, the information the children are learning could be contradicted in the home. To address this, we offer a variety of violence prevention presentations for adults in which we highlight positive role modeling and healthy parenting techniques, and strive to change attitudes and beliefs about gender roles, stereotypes, and violence in our society. We also provide the tools necessary to appropriately handle disclosures of abuse and recognize the possible physical and emotional consequences of being a survivor. Specialized training is also conducted for law enforcement, the prosecuting attorney’s office, and social service and medical personnel.
The mission of E.N.D.-I.T. is to create a society free of violence by involving the entire community. We recognize that violence is a learned behavior, and through role modeling, mentoring, and reinforcing healthy relationships, violence against others can be eliminated as a learned behavior, and through role modeling, mentoring, and reinforcing healthy relationships, violence against others can be eliminated.
BOB SIMPSON
AND
GARY SIMPSON
The Texas Rangers are a professional baseball team in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, based in Arlington, Texas.
Gary Simpson, Read To Me Foundation Board Member and his cousin Bob Simpson, co-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Texas Rangers and founder of XTO Energy made it possible for Jaci, family and friends to watch the Texas Rangers game on Sunday, Sept. 17th, from the Sky Box that Bob Simpson personally made possible for Jaci's special game day.
(Nolan Ryan, former Major League Baseball pitcher "The Ryan Express", and principal owner, President and CEO of the Texas Rangers)
A Day with the Texas Rangers all began when Gary Simpson traveled to Dallas Texas to meet Jaci and her
parents during a difficult hospital stay after Jaci's car wreck. He quickly bonded with Jaci through their love for baseball and promised her a special day at a Ranger's game when she was released from the hospital and felt up to traveling to the game.
What a fun day it was for Jaci and Gary
Gary and Jaci are both baseball fanatics as well as huge Ranger fans. In Gary's words "Jaci brought the Rangers good luck for Sunday's game Texas Rangers-Mariners.
They won 8-1
Thank You to Gary, Bob Simpson and the Texas Rangers for giving Jaci a day she will cherish forever

GRADUATION DAY FOR A REMARKABLE GIRL WHO HAS TURNED A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE INTO A SUCCESSFUL ADVENTURE WITH REAL HOPE FOR HER FUTURE!
CONGRATULATIONS JACI..... GOOD LUCK IN CHICAGO.....THEY ARE ABOUT TO WITNESS A MIRACLE
In the coming months, Jaci will have to spend close to 100 percent of her time out of her chair, lying on her side, trying to heal the pressure wound on her hip. Once the wound is healed, she will face 2 major surgeries. She is dreading all that syhe faces, but knows it has to be done in order for her to get on with her life and find the life God has planned for her. Please continue to pray for Jaci- for determination and strength, for healing.
Blessings to all
James and Phillis (Jaci's parents)
THANK YOU RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS TEXAS
Gary Simpson, RTMF board member, traveled to Dallas, Texas to visit Read To Me Foundation's youngest "Literacy Angel"Jaci Mitchell. Jaci is a beautiful young girl who has recently experienced a serious automobile accident. Throughout her painful ordeal she has continued her incredible fight for recovery at Our Children's House at Baylor. Gary presented Jaci with the latest RTMF children's bilingual book "Operation Got Your Back", a book to salute the military children of deployed soldiers.
- Jaci's parents thank the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas for their support and facility that has made their lengthy stay during Jaci's recovery possible. Because of Jaci, Read To Me Foundation has pledged 200 new books to the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. These books will be given FREE to children who have siblings with parents and/or a patient staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.
The Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the Nation have been one of Read To Me Foundation's main charities that we are honored to support. Their work is never ending and has touched the lives of many families and children through the worst times of their lives.
Thank you Jaci for giving Read To Me Foundation the opportunity to be a part of your recovery. You are a special lady and we value our new friendship with you and your family.
- Thank you Gary for taking the time to visit with Jaci and share her story. Because of your continuous work for Read To Me Foundation, Marilyn Hill of Dallas has pledged a yearly donation to the Read To Me Foundation and has made the books to the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas a reality. Thank you to you and Marilyn.
- Thank You Gary for your making Jaci's baseball dream a reality for Jaci, her family and a few friends to attend a Texas Ranger baseball game. Jaci is a ball player and her father is the coach, so the Texas Ranger game will be a treat that they will share forever.
- JACI when you are ready....THE TEXAS RANGERS will be waiting for you!l
While each family staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas has a unique story, all of the families at the RMHD have a common bond.
Together, the families provide a support system for each other.
